History
When people say Ingud should be pronounced I-ngud and not Ing-gud, just ask them how do you pronounce Pangasinan, Pampanga, and Benguet?
In high school, we were tasked to ask our elders the etymology of each of our barangay names. I remember I didn’t get an answer but heard from someone that it came from the word kugon or panaw.
If I ask my grandfather and grandmother now who are in their 70s, they will say that they don’t know and that it has been Ingud Norte since then even when they were born.
People
This was probably taken during an activity we’d now call brigada.
In this photo are my great great grandfather, three of my great grandfathers, and two of my grandfathers. I was lucky enough to meet four of them. One is still alive and kicking which im very thankful for. That kid photobomber there. Hes now 73 years old. He can still remember them all well.
The lady in the middle is the school teacher, Maa’m Valentin.
The teniente del barrio, which we’d call the barangay captain today and happened to be my great-great-grandfather, lulung Rufino.
Let’s not forget them. Their blood literally flows in our veins. And these people built the foundation of what Ingud Norte has become today. A community that has come a long way since then.
